Deb Self, Executive Director

Deb joined the Baykeeper staff in 2003 as Associate Director before being promoted to Executive Director in 2006. Deb has more than 25 years of experience in environmental policy advocacy, regulatory compliance and nonprofit organizational development. Her Masters in sociology focused on environmental justice and she holds a bachelors degree in geology.
Sara Aminzadeh, JD, Legal Fellow

Sara joined Baykeeper shortly after law school as the 2007-2009 Legal Fellow. She came to Baykeeper fully prepared for the fellowship position having pursued every environmentally-related course, internship, job, research project, and volunteer opportunity that she could find throughout her studies. These experiences ranged from tracking endangered foxes on Santa Cruz Island to performing legal research on the human rights impacts of climate change at the Center for International Environmental Law. Sara graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara and holds a B.A. in environmental studies and political science, and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Sejal Choksi, JD, Baykeeper & Director of Programs

Sejal first joined Baykeeper as a staff attorney in 2002, spearheading Baykeeper's Pesticide Project to secure the nation's first regulations to control agricultural pollution. She was recently selected by the Senate President Pro Tem to serve on California's Oil Spill Prevention & Response Advisory Committee as a representative of environmental and Bay interests. Sejal holds a B.S. in Anthropology from Emory University and a J.D. with a specialization in Environmental Law from the University of California at Berkeley.
Amy Chastain, JD, Staff Attorney

Amy joined Baykeeper as a volunteer in early 2004 and was later hired to manage Baykeeper’s Clean Marinas and Pathogen Monitoring program and to provide policy and legal assistance to the Baykeeper. In 2006, she became Staff Attorney and is responsible for overseeing Baykeeper’s extensive legal docket. Amy holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
Eliet Henderson, Development Associate

Eliet joined Baykeeper in January 2007 to enhance Baykeeper’s development and communications efforts. She previously served as communications staff on a year-long statewide initiative campaign in Nevada, working with local members of the media and crafting campaign messaging. Prior to that, Eliet served for two years as Meetings Coordinator and for one year as Fellowships Assistant at Equal Justice Works in Washington, D.C. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with an honors degree in Sociology.
Jen Kovecses, Staff Scientist/Investigator

Jen joined Baykeeper in the fall of 2007 as staff scientist. Jen has a BSc and MSc degree in biology from McGill University in Montréal. For her master’s thesis work, she studied the impacts of metal mining on lake food webs in north western Québec. After completing her graduate degree, she did an coastal management internship with Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans. Jen has studied fish, water, and invertebrates from lakes and rivers from diverse places in North America. In addition to working as Baykeeper's Staff Scientist, she will also be managing Baykeeper's boat program.
