
A federal court has declared that water diversions in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta cannot continue at the expense of endangered salmon and steelhead. Water exports in the Delta threaten the survival of fish like the Chinook salmon. This ruling comes in the wake of federal fisheries managers’ recent decision to cancel this year’s salmon fishing season due to a record decline in spawning fish.
